Week 1
Introduction to Pilates :
Body Alignment
Breathing
Core connection
(the above is referred to as the A B C of Pilates)
Warming up exercises
Basic Pilates exercises:
Supine (2)
Prone (2)
Side Lying (2)
Stretch and relax
Week 2
Revisit the ABC of Pilates – this week the emphasis is on the pelvic floor
Warming up utilising Pilates balls
Basic Pilates exercises
Supine (3)
Prone (3)
Side Lying (2)
Stretch and relax
Week 3
Revisit the ABC of Pilates – this week the emphasis on the neutral pelvis and neutral spine
Warming up utilising therabands
Basic Pilates exercises:

Weeks 4 – 10
Each week the group will revisit the ABC principles as above.
The warm-up will become progressively stronger – squats and lunges will be introduced and balls and bands utilised
Each week the Basic Pilates exercises introduced in the first three weeks will be reinforced and extended depending on the strength of each individual. The quantity will remain at 4 Supine, 4 Prone and 4 Side Lying, however Seated and Kneeling exercises will be introduced at this stage. The group number is capped at 15 so that the instructor can ensure that each individual is working at an appropriate level for their needs.
The basic stretches introduced in the first three weeks will also be varied depending in the needs of each individual.
Various relaxation techniques will be introduced throughout the course.
This is a Pilates mat work class for Beginners. Intermediate options are offered if required. Pilates balls and therabands are provided.
Please bring your own mat. The floor is hard, so you may also like to bring a blanket for extra padding.

Carole is an experienced fitness trainer, and works with many organizations. She has a passion for fitness, and ensures that all of her qualifications are kept current by attending relevant training programs.
She currently holds the following qualifications:
